This is a very simple tutorial but I use it all the time. Learn this transition:



First, open up your image in Photoshop. Now duplicate the image and set it to Sharpen.

If your image is small enough, like the example, it may look okay for you, but if it is big you will probably want to proceed with the next step. Set the sharpened layer to Soft Light. If it is too bright, lower the opacity until you are happy with it. Your image will probably now look a bit like this:
