Learn this transition:



First, open up your image in Photoshop. Duplicate the base layer and click Adjustments >> Curves and match these settings:
Input:120
Output:90

Duplicate the base image again and drag it to the top. Set it to Soft Light. Your image will probably now look a bit like this:

Now create a new layer and fill it with this gradient:

Set that to Lighten. And you have your finished image:
