Installing Cutenews
In this tutorial you will learn how to install cutenews on your site. Please note that you will need to have PHP available on your site for this to work, so check with your host for PHP capability (if you are on a free host like Freewebs or Bravenet, it is most likely that you will not have PHP). If you do have PHP, then go ahead and download the latest version of Cutenews from the official website.
Unzip the folder and then upload it to your site using your FTP browser.
Now you need to CHMOD all the files. That means right clicking on every file and every folder and clicking 'Change File Attributes', then setting it as follows:

Now, enter your website url/cutenews (or whatever you named the folder with cutenews in it). Remember that if you are hosted you need to put yoursitename.yourhost.com/cutenews instead of your host's site.
You should come up with this page:
And if all goes well, you should then see this:
If you don't see that, with 'Writable' written next to each file, then you need to go back to your FTP browser and change the file attributes until they are correct. You can't proceed until you get them all CHMOD'd correctly. If you have done it correctly, then you will need to create an account in your cutenews so that you can start blogging:
And the initial installation is complete!
Now you can log in, using the account you just created, and start using cutenews.
Once you have logged in for the first time, you should see this on the home page:
You can either click to try and delete it automatically or go back to your FTP browser (again) and delete it manually. You may choose to leave the file there, but it isn't recommended and deleting it won't change anything - you're better off with it gone. Once you've done that, you should see this:
That will be your homepage whenever you log in. If you're seeing that, then you've successfully installed Cutenews for your site! Click 'Add News' to begin blogging!
